UC Davis Check Presentation

Sacramento, California – May 14, 2014 - The Jags Solanki Memorial Fund for Ovarian Cancer donated $41,001.00 to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center following the observance of World Ovarian Cancer Day on May 8th, 2014. The donation commemorates Jags Solanki, who lost her battle with ovarian cancer in 2011. This is the third donation of its kind from the organization, as the family has vowed to support life saving cancer research locally.

Immediately after her passing, her family rallied together to form the Jags Solanki Memorial Fund for ovarian cancer, a non-profit organization that aims to educate women on the symptoms and prevention of the disease known as the silent killer. Since 2011 the family, now known as Team Jags, has successfully hosted the highly anticipated event, The Golf & Gala for ovarian cancer, consisting of an 18 hole golf tournament followed by an elaborate gala filled with live music, gourmet cuisine and ovarian cancer awareness.

Team Jags proudly volunteer their time allowing the organization to donate 100% of net proceeds from their marquee event. “Your organization impresses me,” says Dr. Gary S. Leiserowitz at The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center check presentation.  He continued to say “(I was) stunned the first time that I watched you guys do this, and it seemed like you guys have been doing it for decades.”

The 4th Annual Golf & Gala for Ovarian Cancer event will be held on Saturday August 9th, 2014, at Teal Bend golf course, followed by an evening reception at the Clarion Hotel in Sacramento. Click Here for tickets to the August 9th event.
